Festival in the Shire - Overview

The festival comprises of three parts to cater for all levels of J.R.R. Tolkien enthusiasts with The Conference, The Fan Exposition of original art, rare books, memorabilia and workshops as well as a large Festival with stalls and entertainment.

The general Festival is for general or new fans with shopping stalls, food, entertainment, activities, film showings and music all day and late into the evening. There will be a wide variety of stalls and entertainment. Suitable for all the family, the festival takes place at Pafiliwn Bont, Wales’ centrally located multi-purpose venue. Entertainment will include J.R.R. Tolkien inspired re-enactments, music and other performance art together with Celtic music and a myriad of fantasy related events. It will also offer attendees the opportunity to sample local Welsh food as well as view a variety of Celtic crafts and meet different craftspeople.

The Fan Exposition is for more experienced fans and J.R.R. Tolkien collectors and has a full speaker program with collectibles and art on display. This element of the festival is aimed at fans with some general experience of Tolkien lore, but we encourage new fans to step into the world of Tolkien, learn more and become experienced fans! The exposition will also showcase rare edition Tolkien books, art and drawings inspired by Tolkien, and other Tolkien related memorabilia. We are encouraging attendees to bring favourite pieces from their collection and put them on display for all their fellow fans to see.

Ticket price includes admission to The Festival, but not to the Conference.
