Business Opportunities and Sponsorship

Festival in the Shire was conceived in response to the demand from the J.R.R. Tolkien community for an event that brings together everyone who shares an interest in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Festival in the Shire is a three-day event that will cater to the diverse interests of collectors, academics and those who simply enjoyed the books and films. The festival takes place only 15 miles away from Aberystwyth, at Pafiliwn Bont, Wales’ centrally located multi-purpose venue.

The ‘Tolkien community’ is not a small one. ‘The Lord of the Rings’, and the prequel ‘The Hobbit’ by J.R.R. Tolkien, have both sold more than 150 million copies and have been translated into more than 50 languages. J.R.R. Tolkien was voted the ‘Author of The Century’ and his work is cherished and admired all around the world. The enormous interest in the work of J.R.R. Tolkien is reflected in the response to the recent films. Never has the news of a film project been greeted with more excitement as ‘The Lord of the Rings’. When the very brief trailer for the film went online on 7 April 2000 , 1.67million people downloaded it and broke all previous records. The film made Oscar history by bringing in 30 Oscar nominations, 17 Oscar wins, and an all time record of over $6 billion in box office receipts and DVD sales worldwide. The first Hobbit film is due to be released in 2011 and is already the subject of much excited discussion and speculation on the internet by fans all over the world!

Festival in the Shire represents a fantastic opportunity for exhibitors to reach thousands of buyers. By combining three events in one, Festival in the Shire is designed to attract a large number and wide range of attendees. These range from conference participants and serious collectors who are flying in from all over the world, to families and enthusiasts closer to home. Festival in the Shire is timed to take advantage of the enormous publicity surrounding the release of the new ‘Hobbit’ film as well as the peak vacation season in order to maximise attendance. This should ensure that exhibitors have plenty of traffic at their stands. There is a range of exhibitor options to suit different budgets and target audiences, please contact us for full details.
